Symptoms
Damping-off of seedlings, root and crown rot with wilting, and water-soaked fruit lesions covered in white mold in humid conditions.
Favorable conditions
- •Waterlogged or poorly drained soil
- •Heavy rain and standing water around the root zone
Management
- 1Plant on raised beds with good drainage
- 2Use resistant varieties
- 3Apply fungicide drenches (mefenoxam) preventively
- 4Rotate crops and avoid over-irrigation
