Spider mite infestation
highFine speckling and faint webbing on the leaves point to spider mites, which thrive in dry indoor air.
Favorable conditions
- •Low humidity indoors, especially near heating vents
- •A new plant introduced nearby without quarantine
- •Dust buildup on leaves that went unnoticed
Management
- 1Isolate the plant from other plants right away.
- 2Rinse the leaves (top and underside) thoroughly under lukewarm water.
- 3Apply insecticidal soap or neem oil every 5-7 days for 2-3 weeks.
- 4Increase humidity around the plant to discourage mites from returning.
