Symptoms
Yellowing and wilting of pseudostems above ground, with a soft, foul-smelling rot of the rhizome below.
Favorable conditions
- •Infested soil carried over from previous ginger crops
- •Poor drainage and waterlogged beds
- •Planting infected seed rhizomes
Management
- 1Plant only disease-free, healthy seed rhizomes
- 2Rotate crops for 3+ years away from ginger
- 3Use raised, well-drained beds
- 4Treat seed rhizomes with a labeled fungicide
