Early Blight of Tomato

Symptoms

Dark, concentric-ringed "target" spots appearing first on older, lower leaves, plus stem lesions and sunken spots at the fruit stem end.

Favorable conditions

• •Warm temperatures (24-29°C) with alternating wet and dry periods
• •Plant stress from nutrient deficiency or heavy fruit load

Management

1. 1Rotate chlorothalonil or mancozeb-based fungicides
2. 2Rotate crops away from solanaceous hosts
3. 3Use resistant varieties
4. 4Stake/mulch plants and remove infected debris
