Symptoms

Hard brown spots with gray centers ("freckle spot"), plus cracked-spot and virulent-spot forms on the fruit rind that reduce marketability.

Favorable conditions

• •Warm, wet weather during fruit development
• •Fallen leaf litter serving as the main spore source

Management

1. 1Apply a protectant fungicide program timed to fruit development
2. 2Remove and manage fallen leaf litter
3. 3Plant less-susceptible varieties
4. 4Follow quarantine/regulatory guidance where the disease is regulated
