Symptoms
Raised, corky, brown lesions surrounded by a yellow halo on leaves, stems, and fruit, with premature leaf and fruit drop in severe cases.
Favorable conditions
- •Wind-driven rain, which spreads bacteria over distance
- •Warm, wet weather
- •Insect/wind damage creating leaf entry wounds
Management
- 1Apply copper bactericide sprays
- 2Use windbreaks to reduce wind-driven rain spread
- 3Remove and destroy severely infected material
- 4Plant resistant varieties and follow regional quarantine guidance
