Brown leaf tips are a classic sign of fluoride sensitivity — switching to filtered or distilled water usually stops it. Yellowing lower leaves that eventually drop are often just normal aging as the plant grows taller and forms a visible trunk.
A cane cutting (a section of bare stem) can be rooted in water or moist soil, and will eventually sprout new leaves from dormant nodes along its length.
Repot every 2 years, sizing up gradually — a heavier pot also helps stabilize this top-heavy plant as it grows tall.
