Chlorophytum comosum
Arching, striped leaves that send out long shoots with baby plantlets — easy to grow and easy to propagate.
Brown leaf tips are usually caused by fluoride or chlorine in tap water, or by fertilizer salt buildup — switching to filtered or distilled water often resolves it. Pale, washed-out leaves suggest too much direct sun.
The small plantlets ("spiderettes") that form on long stems already have tiny root nubs — pin one into a separate pot of soil while still attached, and cut it free once it has rooted in a few weeks.
Repot yearly while young, since spider plants are vigorous growers and quickly become root-bound; mature plants can go 2 years between repots.
